It’s a Redo!

I’m working on a new website with a new logo and name (what is he changing his website name to, you may ask?)

This will be the 5th major revision to my website during my 12 years in this latest iteration of an incredible career (University professor, clinical psychologist, entrepreneur, small business owner, corporate health care leader, author, and leadership and resilience expert and advisor.)

In this exercise, I’m asking myself about what is most important to me in my work. Interestingly, an article in this month’s Harvard Business Review asks, “What Does your Company Stand For? The article discusses the importance of value alignment within organizations. It provides some guidelines for engaging employees and other stakeholders in looking at these questions and doing more than posting them on a wall. This works even for a one-man shop.

For me, the most important values in my work are contributing to the success of others the organization and our communities, health and emotional well-being, and personal and professional growth. Looking back on my life, I can see that my commitment to these values has always been a foundation for me personally and professionally.

Revising and changing my websites represents an opportunity to seize a transition and theses times can be tricky for me. One of the most significant disadvantages of possessing advanced degrees is the tendency to identify and then consider lots of  choices which leads to researching everything to the “nth” degree. I can over-deliberate by analyzing too much, agonizing over every decision, and then have buyer’s regret when I finally reach a conclusion.

My coach tells me I should stop thinking so much and act. He’s right, and I am letting go of my over-deliberation—no more analysis-paralysis for me!

I’ll be connecting to my values and the work I’ve done throughout my professional career to develop something that truly represents the best of my work and how I can deliver even more excellent services to my clients and community.

I hope you and your organization are finding ways to move forward using your values, strengths, and insights to bring more success, wisdom, delight to your world.
